What small tweaks could we do to Maya LT to make it easier to use?

  1. When selecting Game Exporter in File menu, restore the window up

    When I have the Game Exporter window open, but minimised to tray and I open the game exporter from the File Menu, it does not restore the window up. This does work for most other windows

  2. Minimised windows are not readable

    Minimised windows are not readable. This is in windows 10, but it used to be better in previous versions of Maya where at least I could read the first couple of letters to see what window was what.

    I sometimes have several minimised windows and I have to open all of them to see which one was what. Best option most of the time is to navigate the window again in the editor menus... which defeats the purpose of a minimised window

    Time slider takes up half the screen space and can't be resized easily.

  4. Node editor auto layout

    Please allow us to disable the auto layout "feature" in the Node Editor. It's extremely disorienting when Maya updates the layout to the way it thinks the nodes should be after every connection is made. As a side note, the pinning feature is nice, but it doesn't help much. If you pin a bunch of nodes, then the next node that gets added is somewhere off in the distance and Maya zooms out to show every thing. This too is very annoying.

  5. Game Exporter Navigation/Input

    In Game Exporter in the Animation Clips tab, when you are entering the start frame and hit tab it doesn't move onto the next part so the end frames, in Maya 2016 full it does that function. Instead it tabs to the top. if you enter the same frames that are in the start spot it will tab correctly.
    Im using Maya 2017 LT btw

  6. Graph Editor Zooming Issue

    If you bring up the graph editor and zoom in on a section and then click on another object it zooms back out even if you have the graph editor set to the current timeline. Maya 2016 full doesn't have that problem. Having that function back/again would make editing curves and animating much easier.

    Deform->Wire Tool is a neat tool for modeling.

  8. Copy Skin Weights should work when the target is unskinned

    Just copy the skin and settings from the source(s) and bind to the same joints.

  9. PBS fixes

    small fixes to PBR in maya LT.

    Point and spot lights to work with standard physically based shader..

    hypershade to show correct samples, mine just shows static kinda like your tv is on the way out.

    attribute editor to show values as it doesn't always seem to display anything. the current workaround i have found it to open the attribute editor in the hypershade menu.

    Just general fixes and improvements to PBR and shaders really, nice work so far though, cheers.

  10. bridge after extruding

    after extruding i can not bridge the faces selected, and it chucks an error.
    instead i have to deselect and re-select all of the faces in order to bridge very annoying.

    "/ Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/MayaLT2016/scripts/others/polyBridgeFaces.mel line 83: Bridge doesn't work with multiple objects selected. Combine the objects first",

  11. Viewport shadows keep switching on and off

    With a simple light setup: One ambient light, one directional light and shadows enabled:

    - Viewport shadows keep switching on and off when selecting objects and moving the camera.

    - It seems totally random

  12. Extrude Bug when selecting different mesh

    When I select a different mesh in object mode when I am in the process of extruding, the pivot does not update anymore and stay at the object that i was extruding.

  13. Multi-Cut Tool: slice points should snap to grid and vertices

    The slice points of the slice plane should react to the snap settings to precisely position the cut.

  14. FBX import: smooth mesh always enable

    Hey i would like to highlight for a recurrent problem with the FBX import in maya LT 2016.
    I double checked my fbx Ascii files and the smooth mesh should be disable, but is not.

    Maya always enable the smooth mesh when i import any FBX file ( mainly the one i export with Zbrush, only maya LT 2016 is impacted.

  16. Grid showing up over models even if it's underneath if.

    Since I updated to maya 2016 my grid is showing up on top of models most of the time, even if the grid is underneath said models, which is pretty annoying. Keep in mind there is no transparency on those models. I'm not sure if there is an option somewhere to fix it or if it's a real bug.

  17. Add Rot+Tweak feature from cometJointOrient script to Orient Joint Options

    I use cometJointOrient script (http://www.comet-cartoons.com/melscript.php) a lot. There is a nice feature called Rot+Tweak, which allows you to manually tweak joint orientation by specific degree. It would be nice that Maya's native Orient Joint tool has this feature integrated.

  18. Need "Skin > Substitute Geometry" Tool back

    Skin > Substitute Geometry under Animation menu is a very useful tool that let you swap geometry after it has been bound.

  20. X-Ray shading mode + backface culling = Better Retopo Shading Mode

    X-Ray shading mode is good for displaying reference model when retopo a model. But the downside is that you can see the backface of the reference model and retopo mesh, which is not what I want.
