curves are too slow to handle in maya
Lots of curves are almost impossible to handle in Maya.
Right now we are working on a lots of birds and we choose to do the primary feathers with curves which get deformed in Softimage and brought back to Maya as Arnold standin.
It was impossible to do deformations of ~300.000 curves in Maya and there is no way to have something like strands for particles since I assume Maya does not support the concept of having an array stored on a point (which would be necassary for strands).
So I was hoping that it might be possible to improve the performance of curves in Maya, both when drawn in the viewport and when manipulated with deformers.
